The Grief and Growth Experience
Girl, He's a Scammer
OMG... You all will not believe this! Keanu Reeves messaged me on TikTok! Out of all the women in the world, he picked me, a chubby, reactive widow from the Tri-Cities. Apparently true love does exist. I just need to send him money first so he can sort out some Hollywood business. Who would've guessed my second chapter was Keanu?!
Girl... he's a scammer.
If you realized Keanu didn’t message me, you’d be correct. I think he probably has more important things to do than follow some podunk widow on TikTok. If I’m wrong, I’ll let you know.
Sometimes it’s easy to spot a scammer. Sometimes it’s much harder.
If he’s a “doctor” in scrubs and a hair net, working on an oil rig, secretly a prince, or whatever unbelievable story they’re selling… it’s a scam.
I’ve already watched too many people fall victim to these schemes, and I don’t want you to be one of them.
Love after loss can absolutely happen. I have widowed friends who are dating again or happily remarried. I’m not trying to rain on anybody’s parade. I just don’t want to see my people send away the money, trust, and hope they still have to some asshole pretending to be someone he’s not.
We are vulnerable. We miss being loved. But just because someone says something online doesn’t make it true.
You are worthy of real love, whether that love is the memory of your spouse, a future relationship, your family, your friends, or your community. Missing love is human, but don’t let the desire to feel loved blur your reality or silence your instincts.
