Cooking for one sucks.
My husband loved to cook. It was one of the ways he showed love, and making meals together was just part of our life. After loss, grief somehow manages to show up even in the kitchen.
I can’t afford takeout every night, so eventually I had to learn how to grocery shop, cook, and feed myself alone. Some days that has felt impossible.
Below are some struggles I’ve faced, some things that have helped, and some simple meal ideas for the days when nothing sounds good and you’re too exhausted to think.
